Dr. Kristina Turkewitsch

From the outside I look like any ordinary person with an ordinary life. I was born in 1982, the  youngest of three, to a middle class family, in a small town in eastern Quebec, called Gaspe. I  was a happy, giggly child who was nicknamed “sunshine” by my uncle in honour of my sunny  disposition and grew up with all the advantages my parents could give me. To anyone looking  at me, from the outside, you would never guess my secret. My life was far from ordinary.

I was born with a degenerative lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis. It turned out to be no surprise to my parents because my older sister was also born with it. So they were well prepared and set about the task of preparing me for a life with an illness. They taught me that my health came first and I quickly learned the meaning of sacrifice. I had to give up many regular childhood, teenage and young adult activities to maintain a rigid schedule, in order to  persevere through sickness and deal with everyday life. I also watched my sister struggle and overcome sickness within inches of survival. In 2007 I saw her persevere and overcome death, when she received a much needed double lung transplant. During this time I strove to be  strong not only for my family, but also for myself. I was terrified, wondering if I would follow in  my sister’s footsteps.

That year was a turning point for me. I realized life was too short and that I wanted mine to count. This determination gave me the courage to take the steps to find a purpose and passion for my life. That dream was realized when I found chiropractic. Through personal experience I have seen how chiropractic can help and I wanted to help make lives better. So in 2016, I  graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College with a doctorate in Chiropractic.  Sometimes I still get awestruck that I get to be a chiropractor. I have been told that this was  not an ordinary choice for someone like me. Well, my life has been far from ordinary. Why stop  now?

Dr. Kristina graduated from CMCC in June 2016, and is now an associate chiropractor at Crossroads.  Dr. Kristina is trained in Thompson Technique and Webster.  She brings with her a strong passion for serving, and an amazing level of empathy.  Her desire is to see every person who comes to Crossroads reach their full God given potential.

"I have been going here for years, I'm 27. I can honestly say these people care and are extremely passionate about their patients. It's more than just relieving pain, it's about adjusting your spine to help keep your body healthy by keeping your brain as well connected to the rest of your body as possible."

"Dr Josh and staff are a credit to their profession ... friendly, flexible and focused on wellness. My back and neck pain are significantly reduced from when I started and treatment only began after a thorough consultation. I highly recommend them."
