Dr. Joshua Nikkanen graduated with an honours biology degree from the university of Ottawa, and his doctor of chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College. He is married to his beautiful wife Annie, and has a son Ezra. Dr. Josh, as his patients call him, has lived most of his life in the Newmarket area so starting his practice in Newmarket to serve the Newmarket, Aurora, Bradford and surrounding area was an easy decision to make. Dr. Josh is versed in many styles of Chiropractic with a strong focus on the Thompson terminal point technique. Outside of taking care of his patients, Dr. Josh enjoys being outdoors, and is an avid athlete, completing eight Ironman events (one full Ironman and 7 half ironman races), along with multiple other triathlon events.
In Dr. Josh's own words, "Chiropractic is more than just a profession to me. It is a calling. When I was young, from my earliest recollections, I wanted to be a doctor. It wasn’t because I wanted to have a job where I made a lot of money, but because I wanted to help people. I soon realized as I moved further in my desire to be a doctor, that being a western medical doctor was not for me. The idea of dealing with bodily fluids was not too appealing. More importantly, the thought of treating patients with prescription drugs from the outside in, to work on symptoms, did not sit well with me. I knew that there was more to health. It was not long after that I discovered chiropractic. It was actually a friend of mine who was a practicing chiropractor who introduced me to chiropractic, but more importantly he introduced me to the calling I was born for. So for me, every person who I am able to care for is a gift. I am honoured to be able to serve each and every person that comes through my door. Best of all I am rewarded by seeing patients live life to their fullest, live out their dreams, and make a difference in the lives of those around them. This is why I do what I do…to see lives transformed".
